Early Childhood

At New Horizons School, our Early Childhood students, from 9 months old through Grade 1, grow in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where curiosity inspires their earliest learning experiences. This stage includes Toddlers I, Toddlers II, Pre-Kinder, Kinder, Pre-Primary, and Grade 1.

Through bilingual immersion in English and Spanish and a program based on the Dominican National Curriculum, enriched by internationally recognized U.S. academic standards, children explore, discover, and gradually develop independence, confidence, social skills, and a lifelong love of learning.

Our curriculum

From as early as 9 months, our bilingual English-Spanish program uses play and hands-on learning to build confidence and social skills - rooted in the Dominican National Curriculum aligned with U.S. academic standards.

Language and Communication - English and Spanish

Discovering the world through two languages

Language development begins through meaningful experiences in English and Spanish. Through stories, songs, conversations, games, and daily routines, children expand their vocabulary, strengthen their listening and speaking skills, and gain the confidence to communicate naturally in both languages.

Logical-Mathematical Thinking

Thinking, discovering, and finding solutions

Children develop early mathematical skills by exploring numbers, quantities, shapes, patterns, sequences, and relationships. Through play and everyday experiences, they learn to reason, compare, classify, and solve simple challenges, building strong foundations for logical thinking.

Exploration of the Environment and Science

Turning curiosity into discovery

Children observe, explore, and experiment to deepen their understanding of the world around them. Experiences with nature, objects, and everyday phenomena spark their curiosity, encouraging them to ask questions, make discoveries, and develop early inquiry and scientific thinking skills.

Personal and Social Development

Growing in confidence and learning together

Children strengthen their sense of identity, self-esteem, and independence in a caring and supportive environment.

Through routines, play, and interactions with their peers, they learn to recognize and express their emotions, respect others, share, collaborate, and approach daily experiences with increasing confidence.

Artistic Expression and Creativity

Imagining, creating, and expressing without limits

Art, music, movement, and imaginative play offer children different ways to express their ideas, emotions, and experiences. By experimenting with materials, sounds, colors, and shapes, they develop their imagination and creativity while discovering their own unique forms of self-expression.

Motor Development

Moving, growing, and gaining independence

Physical and movement-based activities support the development of fine and gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and body control. Through play and age-appropriate experiences, children gain greater confidence in their movements and increasing independence in daily activities.

Through age-appropriate activities, they develop sequencing, reasoning, logic, and computational thinking skills while learning to use technology safely, creatively, and purposefully.
